Day 1: Hoi An to Prao
Drive through the rice fields, stopping at historic Cham towers monument from the Indochina war along the way. After a Vietnamese coffee, we ascend into the highlands through Cotu ethnic minority villages, stopping for a swim and relaxing at a waterfall. We’ll also have a lunch with local foods. We will then ride along the Ho Chi Minh trail into the highlands to visit an ethnic minority village. We’ll dine at a top local restaurant.
Day 2: Prao to Khe Sanh
Day two, we start early with breakfast before we will continue the adventure along the Ho Chi Minh trail, visiting another minority village. Then we ride through the pristine jungle along border of Laos and over spectacular mountain passes. We’ll stop at a mountain waterfall, where you can cool off with a swim. Following this, we go through the A Shau Valley, a famous American war battleground. After lunch, we leave A Luoi. We will keep riding on the western Ho Chi Minh trail where the stilt house hill tribe, Paco and Van Kieu (ethnic minority), still line the road. We pass through a newly planted jungle, which was destroyed during the war, before arriving in Khe Sanh.
Day 3: Khe Sanh to Hue via DMZ
We ride through Quang Tri province to visit a former battlefield from the summer of 1972 with some historic relics. We see Ta Con air base, 20 km to Highway 9, then we will take small country roads down the beautiful coast to Vinh Moc tunnel. After exploring the Vinh Moc tunnel, we will stop at Ben Hai river and Hien Luong bridge, where Vietnam was divided into North and South by the Geneva Convention in 1954 – this is the DMZ. Next we visit Quang Tri ancient citadel before ending our journey in Hue city.
